Frontera Healthcare Network

Mission
Frontera Healthcare Network (FHN) is a private, non-profit corporation created to serve the health care needs of Concho, Menard and Mason county residents. FHN operates currently with program income from the Eden and Menard clinics, a Human Resource Services Administration grant and four other grants from local and area organizations and foundations including the Spirit of Eden Fund. A nine-member board , equally representing the three counties, oversees the corporation. Local board members are Thomas Kelso, Barbara Stansberry and Dudley White.

History
FHN took over clinics in Eden and Menard, formerly operated by Concho County Hospital, on October 29, 2007. Executive Director is Cam Kleibrink, Chief Financial Officer is Rosa Schreiber, Billing Supervisor is Michaela Hawthorne and Client Services Representative is Margaret DeAnda. FHN currently has three sites, Eden Clinic, Menard Clinic and the Business Offices in Eden. FHN has requested approval for the Mason Clinic in Mason and a Dental Clinic in Menard to serve all three counties.

Dr. Robert Martin serves Frontera as Medical Director and physician. Physician Assistant Bonnie Wickham works approximately one-half time in the Eden Clinic as well. Carol Sanders and Angie Torres round out the Eden staff. In addition to Martin, the Menard clinic is staffed part time by Dr. Albert Martinez, Nurse Practitioner Bettye Henderson-Callan and Nurse Practitioner Renee Gamble. Sue Crisp and Patricia Lackey complete that staff. Both clinics are open 8-5, M-F with extended hours one evening per week and one Saturday per month as posted in the respective clinics.

Our mission is to provide the best primary health care possible to all those in our service area. You are urged to come in and visit with our clinic staff to see what we have to offer and how you may benefit in special ways from our policies and procedures. We are a Federally Qualified Health Center and that is the highest clinic designation available in the United States. Medicare and Medicaid patients can undergo an unsettled time period when there is an ownership change in a clinic to which they are assigned. New clinics have to obtain provider numbers in order to be eligible to serve and bill Medicare and Medicaid patients. That is a prolonged process we have almost completed. Your patience has been appreciated. As soon as those enrollments are finalized, FHN will be eligible to enroll in most private insurance provider groups in this area and will do so as soon as possible.

This area is fortunate to have been served ably and well by physician clinics both in the past and those now in operation. Frontera was created in order to begin now to meet future healthcare needs. FHN expansion, already scheduled for our second grant year, includes dental services, mental health services and limited pharmaceutical services. FHN and Concho County Hospital are working together to address recruitment and retention of medical professionals. We urge you to visit with any of our staff or board members should you have questions or desire any additional information. We are here to serve you.
